由gmp·冯·格康，玛格及合伙人建筑师事务所与同济大学建筑设计研究院（TJAD）共同设计的西安丝路国际展览中心项目（一期）即将竣工。展览中心坐落于西安市东北部的灞河右岸，位于浐灞生态区欧亚经济综合园区核心区，与同为gmp设计的国际会议中心一起组成了会展中心建筑群。集文化、商贸、科技功能为一身，可举行峰会、展览、交流、交易的大型会展中心，是西安城市开发建设中的关键项目，也是浐灞生态区的核心项目。Xi’an Silk Road International Exhibition Center (Phase I), designed by Architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp) and TJAD, is inching towards completion. Standing on the right bank of Ba River in the northeast of Xi'an City at the heart of Euro-Asia Economic Comprehensive Park in Chanba Ecological District, it constitutes the building cluster of the convention & exhibition center together with the International Convention Center also designed by gmp. The large-scale convention& exhibition center, integrating cultural, commercial, and technological functions for summits, exhibitions, exchanges and trades, is a key project of Xi'an in urban development and also a core project of Chanba Ecological District.

展览中心位于灞河之滨，毗邻前世博园区，地理位置优越，地上建筑面积约为16.4万平方米。西侧的展览中心包含轴线两侧共十二个展厅，入口大厅位于轴线南北两侧，东侧的会议中心为一座轻盈优雅的方正布局建筑，兼具会议功能与轻质展览空间。By the Ba River, the Exhibition Center is prominently adjacent to the former EXPO site, with the above ground area of about 164,000 sqm. The Exhibition Center on the west consists of 12 exhibition halls on both sides of the axis, with entrance halls on both the north and south ends of the axis. The Convention Center on the east is a light and elegant building in a square layout, for both conference and light exhibitions.
展览中心的建筑序列沿一条绿化轴线展开，轴线南北两端设有两座大型入口建筑，其前方是宽阔的公共广场，长达900多米的轴线两侧将布置十二个展厅。即将竣工的展览中心一期工程，包括了南侧登录大厅及6个展厅（2个展厅及多功能厅、4个标准展厅）。
Buildings of the Exhibition Center are unfolded along a green axis. On the north and south ends of the axis are two large entrance buildings, with wide public square in the front. 12 exhibition halls are lined along both sides of the 900-m axis. The nearly complete Exhibition Center Phase I consists of the south concourse and 6 exhibition halls (2 exhibition and multi-functional halls, 4 typical exhibition halls).
为满足现代和未来展会的多种展厅规模，基于灵活性的考虑设计了不同的展厅类型。其中，标准展厅面积约10000平方米，净高13米，可根据需要分隔为两个单元；南侧入口的两个超大展厅净高为16米，面积超过16000平方米，也可以举办大型活动。
Different types of exhibition halls are offered to accommodate modern and future exhibitions in a flexible way. The typical exhibition halls, with a floor area of about 10,000 m2 and a clear height of 13 m, can be divided into two units as needed; the two super large exhibition halls at the south entrance, with clear height of 16 m and floor area about 16,000 m2, can also hold large events.
各个展厅的展览区域均采用无柱设计，保证了最大的使用灵活性。空调机房等设备间均集中设在展厅南北两侧两层通高的厚重体量中。每个展厅都设有多个大门供货车驶入，便于将货物直接运送至展台。
The column-free exhibition areas of the exhibition halls ensure maximum flexibility. Air conditioning and other MEP rooms are all centralized in the thick volume in two-floor height in the north and south of the exhibition hall. Each exhibition hall is designed with several gates for truck access and convenient delivery of goods directly to the booth.
会展中心的建筑设计，以现代的建筑语汇诠释并回应了西安古城墙及城市肌理，具有很高辨识度。展厅外立面采用天然石材，具有一定倾斜度的石质墙体采用了西安古城墙的形式语言。与坚固的基座相对应的，是轻巧的流线型屋顶设计，起伏层叠的曲线屋顶，唤起对丝绸之路上流动沙丘的遥远记忆。登录厅建筑突出于展厅建筑之上，气势非凡。超高的大门再现了城门这一文化符号。立面采用通透的玻璃幕墙，使来访者从远处即可定位入口。错叠的屋面逐渐出挑，由室内延伸至室外，由巨大的十字柱支撑。十字柱呈锥形，向顶部逐渐变细。
The architectural design of the Exhibition Center, which showcases and responds to the ancient city wall and urban context of Xi 'an through a modern architectural language, is highly recognizable. The facade of exhibition hall is designed with natural stones and features some inclination to match the style of the ancient city wall of Xi’an. The sturdy base echoes the lightweight, streamlined roof design. The undulating curvy roof evokes distant memories of moving dunes on the Silk Road. The stately concourse stands out above the exhibition hall. The super high gate represents the cultural symbol of city gate. The transparent glass curtain wall of the facade makes the entrance visible from the distance. The overlapping roofs are staggered, gradually protruding from the interior to the exterior, which is supported by huge cross columns tapering towards the top.
展会观众将穿过开阔的广场进入突出于展厅平面的门厅空间，经过售票处及安检后进入会展中心内部，经由登陆厅进入各个展厅。两个入口大厅之间设置两条平行延伸的双层长廊，其两侧设有商业、餐饮、会议室等辅助功能。上层通廊跨越一二期工程之间的道路，来访者可以不受天气影响到达会展中心的各个部分。
Walking through the open square, visitors will enter the hall space protruding from the exhibition floor. After passing the ticket office and security check, they will enter the interior of the exhibition center and reach each exhibition hall via the concourse. Between the two entrance halls are two parallel double-floor corridors, with supporting functions such as commerce, F&B and meeting rooms on both sides. The upper corridor spans the road between Phase I and Phase II, providing weatherproof access for visitors to reach all parts of the Exhibition& Convention Center.
西安在历史上作为丝绸之路的起点，是丝路东西方文化和经济交汇传播的重镇。国家“一带一路”战略将为西安带来更多的机遇，丝路国际会展中心的建设及运营，将完善浐灞生态区打造会展产业集聚区的拼图，促进浐灞乃至西北地区会展产业的发展。新会展中心将成为西安市新的经济和建筑地标，它作为标志性建筑，象征性地代表了丝绸之路沿线经济纽带的振兴和繁荣。As the starting point of the Silk Road in history, Xi’an is a pivot for cultural and economic exchanges and communications between the east and the west along the Silk Road. The national strategy of the“Belt and Road” Initiative will bring more opportunities for Xi’an, and the construction and operation of Silk Road International Convention& Exhibition Center will play its share for the landscape of convention and exhibition industry cluster envisioned by Chanba Ecological District, promote the development of convention and exhibition industries in Chanba and even the northwest region. The new Convention& Exhibition Center will become a new economic and architectural landmark in Xi 'an. As an iconic landmark, it celebrates the revitalization and prosperity of economic ties along the Silk Road.
